JMP Design has recently started working with Lawns Park Primary School in Farnley, Leeds to Design and manage the schools online learning platform.
The Leeds Learning Platform was introduced to schools in early 2009 by Leeds Learning Network, designed to improve e-learning across all areas of school day to day activities, Learning, Communication, Document management and Organisation are all within the capabilities of the software.
The Learning Platform project key is to involve students in the ever evolving online world, developing their computer skills and internet awareness. The platform also give students the opportunity to take ownership of their own class site, developing and designing visual areas adding online creativity to a live document. The advanced platform is also designed to improve the working life for teachers, improving working methods and sharing vital resources at the click of a button.
Microsoft SharePoint is the software behind the Leeds Learning Platform, offering direct interaction with Microsoft Office making life extremely easy when creating and modifying documents in Word, Excel and Power point. SharePoint is also designed to interact with Outlook, working with Microsoft mail exchange to keep the users informed of changes to documents, announcements and other notifications.
The software is also designed around different user groups allowing users to log on and only access the items allowed at their user group, a tool which is ideal in a school environment. The groups can be set to different age groups, year groups, management levels or even public use, meaning that the site can also be used as a public facing website.
Students can be set homework by their teacher and the student can login at home and access the homework, will this see the end of the dog eating the home work excuse?
JMP Design is working closely with the school to help explore and develop all aspects of the software are used to their full potential. With the support of JMP Design the School anticipate to incorporate the platform into the everyday life in early November.
